Frequently Asked Questions
How old does my dog need to be?
Puppies as young as 12 weeks can attend the Parkour Foundations class, but must be 18 months of age to start the higher level classes. There is officially no maximum age for a dog to start taking classes, but we recommend consulting with your veterinarian to determine if your dog is physically fit enough to start obstacle oriented classes no matter what age.
do we have to compete?
Definitely not. Classes are geared towards achieving goals and for most people that means going to shows and obtaining titles but this is not a requirement for any DogJoy student. Dog Parkour titles however can be earned through classes, so it's an easy way to earn titles here in class!
is this a kid friendly class?
Definitely yes. We recommend children be at least 8 years old for Dog Parkour training or approval of the trainer. Children need to be accompanied by an adult caregiver over the age of 18 years.
what if my dog has a physical impairment?
Please consult your veterinarian to determine if this is an appropriate activity for your dog first. Written notice from your veterinarian for any exclusions/inclusions needs to be provided before beginning classes. Blind and lame dogs are not allowed to participate in agility classes.
what equipment is required?
Well fitting harness (straps need to be 1" wide except for toy breeds)
4-6 foot leash
Plenty of small and yummy treats
Dog Parkour Classes
