Holy moly we did it! I'm writing this several weeks after the fact but its still just as awesome as when it was going down. I can't say thank you enough times to my EPIC crew of volunteers that learned things at the speed of light, helped people left and right, and were just there the whole time to help with everything happily. I'm not sure I've ever had so much support and its really humbling. There just aren't really words so I'm going to do a recap that will pale in comparison to how it went and how I feel about everyone.
Here's a quick recap: Monday: Move Trailers In Day Tuesday: "Rest" at BCS/home, really we ran around getting MORE things prepped and ready to move down Wednesday: NRG Setup Day. We meet up with Nita (from AZ that I bribed, ahem invited to come play), David, and Josh and his epic kiddos to set the place up. I hadn't ever done this setup so I hoped it would come out great. It did. Sadly there were no neon lights or other bling but it had a nice professional but barn hunty vibe to it Thursday: Rat N Gos and Mini Clinics 9a-4p. Awesome day of working out the kinks and getting everyone up to speed Friday: Rat N Gos, Mini Clinics, and then evening Fun Test! Honestly the Fun Test I think was the best part of the day and something we needed as a group to be able to put on Licensed Trials in the future. I was pulled away to do Judging RIGHT when my guys were learning how to do the jobs. I felt bad, but I threw David (the only one out of them that had been to a Barn Hunt Trial before) at everyone and they all rocked it. Apparently swapping from agility to obedience to barn hunt volunteering isn't so bad for our group! *hi5s I did decent at judging and they all rocked it with the test. The Rat N Gos were fun and Nita continued her great Mini Clinics mid day. Mark Shaw from North Texas came down to help out too and it was very fun having them for the weekend. Saturday: Friday Part 2. This was the day that we knew would be sooo busy and it was. But even with the huge crowd, there was never a wait for anyone longer than 10 minutes I believe. EVERYONE in our camp was rocking and rolling and it was so great. Fun Test ran even smoother this evening and we finished super early. Very cool! Sunday! End day! We had Rat N Gos and Mini Clinics again and they were easy peasy by this point. Lots and lots of great dog/handler teams all week (average of 200 pairs a day!) and lots of information so hopefully we got a nice foothold into this area and we can get things going even more than they already are! Thank you thank you to everyone that participated and helped with this event. Oh and we were invited back LITERALLY the next day for 2016! They said we were so well run, professional and just awesome (my words) that they'd love to have us back. 2016 trials woooooo!
